#Minsgame day 27 to 30... CDs... my limit as minimalist and values

Okay - there they go. I've never been a collector of music or something like that, but I'm really into music and when I'm at home usually some music is filling my house. CDs or songs and memories are deeply connected ... but only when you listen to that songs. Therefore I don't need them physically as cd as I've got them as mp3 and as I'm using streaming services.
My need is to listen to music - to satisfy this, I need some kind of device and a source of music. If I would be a real Minimalist, my cellphone would be enough to do so. But I'm not: I've got speakers in every room and I would never ever throw them out of here! There's a limit for me being a Minimalist.

What I've to think about is the value of these cds: my personal value, the value a second hand cd has for it's new user, the value that is lost for the band as no new cd is sold, the value that is earned for the band as I pay for streaming every song, the value of the recylable plastic as a resource, the value of resources that are free for other stuff as no new cd has to be produced.... wages in production...

Luckily only one beer left, when I realized that my vegetables started speaking to me.

Total amount of things until today 351 ... 145 to go

I've three hundred and fifty one things less than at the beginning of July and I would say that nobody but me would realize it. I thought it would be easier from day to day to find stuff to throw out, but it is not. The lampshades for instance: I've them here since 2007 and always thought about building a lamp out of them or use them as spare parts. But I didn't and even then I had to think about throwing them out three or four times today.

Sorted out some magazines and backup cds (most of them 7 years old).

Day 24: workshop parts

As I was much too long at the office again I had to make a quick sorting of my stuff and came out with these: actually more than 24 parts, but mostly very small ones, so that I think this day counts in

So as I didn't have that much time to think, I found some small things to give.
But what about those things. They rested here in my place as resouces that were useless for me, but might not be for others. So if someone would like to buy one of those, my unused stuff is something like a dead resource. That's a gigantic wasting of resources if you imagine the stuff that's unused in every household.

Day 20 ... Small things

Found a bunch of small things that I don't need anymore. Some thrown away and some to give away. If I had a garage I could make a garage sale...

Now I'm going to rethink my collection of treasures: stuff I could not throw out yet because I thought I would build something new out of it. That won't be easy 'cause there's often the possibility to make something ...

Things that were here to remember... Not necessary as you don't see them when they are there everyday.
But there is mostly... junk... On day 18
An unused bag that I've won years ago. And an old watch ... One Pilsener Beer  - over for four years and Lemon Soda which I'm usually importing from Italy - I opened it and it was nearly orange (two years over)

Day 17 of #MinsGame... Easy!... but...

Lightbulbs: easy to throw them out as there are LED's nowadays
These are stuff of another category: things you really don't need anymore and you can't imagine any reason why you might want to use them in the future. As any energy saving bulb would be replaced by a led, it's easy to get rid of them.
... thought about keeping one classic bulb to make thomething new out of it ... but... they come as a set of 17 so they had to go all...

16 things out of my kitchen

It's still my kitchen, but a bit different.
It looks different because of some missing decorations. I think this is one category of things that I have: stuff that is in my home and makes my home look like mine.
So there seems to be stuff laying and standing around that's got a function in just being there and helping to define a home as ones home. Making it cozy. Throwing too many of those things out might be minimizing but that would not be helpful at all.
... If I'm not defined through the stuff I've got, at least my home is somehow marked as mine with my things in it when I come home.  

Day 15... Glasses again

Me: 'What if you are going to give a party?'
Myself: 'No problem at all. We could take platic stuff. And the last party here was new years eve.'
And I: 'But plastic is bad and ...  and I'd like to...'

14 things on day 14... sums up to 105 things

Today was not that easy: out of my life are now one pair of pants, two hoodies, two cd racks, these white two table cloth things, a frother, a rubber cockroach, a lighter, a not very decorative tin, a rubber band, an inflatable island and a set of cappuccino templates for decorating your cup of coffee.

MinsGame Day 13: more clothes

 Old jogging pants, t-shirts, a jeans (which might burst next time I would wear it).

Day 12: decorative bottles and vases

Some were souvenirs others were presents some once had flowers in them and others were just there. Now they aren't anymore... I've read somewhere that our memories are not in those things, but in our minds.

Day 10: clothes...

Bad picture of some clothes I put into the collection box for clothes (you know what I'm talking about). Had these in my closet for years without wearing them, some are like new and I hope they'll be worn again.

Day nine: more books

This time the books went into the give box for books - I haven't read one of those I think - no not true I did read The Client and I started to read Focaults Pendulum

Day 8 books out

Gave one book to a couchsurfer who stayed at my house tonight and threw 7 others away... Because I think nobody would need 10 year old lawbooks.

Day 6: shredded notes

On day 6 of the MinsGame I shredded three old notebooks. I've taken notes on jobs, stuff I've read, things I've done - these were no diaries, but somehow shredding them was strange.
Also I gave a chocolate machine to a girl who came to get her some plush sheep that I found in a box. The sixth thing was a clipboard that could be thrown away.

The problem of the #MinsGame is that there are lot's of things in my house that I myself didn't use for a long time. So they are useless resources that could be useful for others, but how to find these new users? So we decided that it's okay to put some stuff into the cellar until a new user could be found within this month.

Yesterday I made my own givebox and put the glasses in them on the street in front of my house at 11pm: they were gone (including the box) early this morning.

Milestone finished: Tinkershelf

I consider this project as nearly finished now. In fact it's a series of projects which began with the painting of the TinkerTable which led to a renovation of the whole room including painting the bed and closet in grey as you might have read. Back to the shelf: what's missing is some kind of lighting above the working surface to replace the desk lamp. But there is still some work to be done on the table itself.

Unused ugly glasses: five of them are gone now.
And yes, those two have hearts on them.

Three tubes that had or have herbs in them and a little sheep money bank are gone. No worries about whether someone might have to find one of those useful.

Third day of throwing things out of my life

On the third day of the #MinsGame I'm throwing away these three tins hoping they will be recycled. 

I thought, I didn't have tea in them for the last year or even longer but on the other hand I could use them to put screws in or stuff like that. At least someone, somewhere on the planet could do so. Will they really have a new life as soda cans or cheap jewelery produced by small hands on the other side of this planet...

Second Day of #MinsGame

So it's July the second and two things I don't need anymore have to go. How many things do I have that I really don't need now and in the future. I just thought about building something like a clock out of the metal plate... But now it's going to be recycled into a new life as soda can ...
